Nutella Chocolate is the brand name of a hazelnut-flavoured sweet spread by the Italian company Ferrero. The Nutella recipe was developed from an earlier Ferrero chocolate spread released in 1949. Nutella chocolate is sold in over 75 countries.The first jar of Nutella chocolate spread left the Ferrero factory in Alba on 20 April 1964. The product was an instant success and remains widely popular.

Nutella chocolate is a modified form of gianduja. The exact recipe of Nutella chocolate is a secret closely guarded by Ferrero. The main ingredients of Nutella chocolate are sugar and vegetable oils, hazelnut, cocoa solids and skimmed milk. Nutella is marketed as “hazelnut cream” in many countries. Under Italian law, Nutella cannot be labeled as a chocolate cream, as it does not meet minimum cocoa solids concentration criteria.
